About "Community English"

Welcome to Community English! This a place where you can enjoy the world of English and communication. Not only English language, we are a friendly community where you can take part in many cultural activities and experiences.  So even if you don’t speak any English, you can enjoy activities, crafts, events and a friendly community spirit! Our aims are:

  • Help people on their English learning journey and help them build strong communication skills
  • Spread knowledge and experience culture from around the world
  • Create a friendly, enjoyable community for people to socialize through learning
  • Bring enjoyment in all our classes

We believe that positive communication and enjoyment are key aspects to enrich people's lives

Meet The "TEACHER"

Hello, it's nice to meet you all

Hello and thank you for taking an interest in Community English. My name is Tom. I am the owner and teacher of Community English. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.  I come from a place called Kent in England, the UK. I moved to Japan about 14 years ago and have taught English here ever since. My experience teaching includes everything from working in conversation schools, public & private schools, a hotel and private tutoring.  I really enjoy teaching, not just language but life skills and culture. I love to see people improve their lives through learning, and if I can help them to do this, I feel a great sense of satisfaction. I created Community English as a place for people to come together and learn English but also build a community where people can enjoy their time, create friendships and enrich their lives. 

Lessons & Prices

Currently we offer several types of lessons for our students.  Please take a look at the descriptions below:

Group Lessons

Group lessons are great way to learn and communicate with several people and work together while have fun.
￥1600/Person
  • Maximum class size 15 people
  • 1 Hour Class Duration
  • Personal Monitoring
  • Comminicative Learning Environment
  • Competitative Learning Environment

Private Lessons

These lessons are for anybody of any level. You can learn 1 on 1 with the teacher.
￥3000/Person
  • The content is personalized for the individual.
  • 1 Hour Class Duration
  • Personal Monitoring
  • Learning English for traveling, for tests, communication or business.
  • Will focus on what you personally want to achieve.

Group lessons are on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays

19:30 – 20:30

Level's Overview

Currently we offer several types of lessons for our students.  Please take a look at the descriptions below:

Beginner - Pre-Intermediate

These lessons are for anybody from people who are just starting their English language learning to people who have basic understanding of simple English sentences and vocabulary.

Intermediate - Advanced

These lessons are for people who have a good understanding of English and can hold simple conversations to people who have a strong ability to communicate in English.

Community Activities

These lessons are for anybody who wants to enjoy activities & cultural experiences. Classes are open for everyone of any level. Content includes quizzes, challenges, crafts, team building activities, games and much more. No English is required.

Time table

Currently lessons are taught in the evenings from 7:30 – 8:30. Please check the calendar below for this month’s lessons.
